the best cornbread ever
Ingredients:
1 Box of Cornbread Mix
1 Can of Corn (use your corn preference, I use whole kernel)
1 Can of Green Chiles
6 Tablespoons of Butter
3-4 Tablespoons of Honey
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 375° or whatever heat the boxed cornbread asks for.
Place cast iron skillet into the oven for 10 minutes.
Prepare mixture by taking the dry cornbread mixture and mixing in the drained corn and green chiles. This will prevent the corn and chiles sinking to the bottom.
Add water or milk to mixture. Follow the box for how much liquid to add.
Take skillet out of the oven. Put a tablespoon of butter into the pan and coat the entire pan.
Pour the cornbread mixture into the pan, it will sizzle.
Bake for 30 minutes or however long the box asks for.
Mix together the honey and butter to create a honey butter. You can add or remove honey based on how sweet you want it.
Take cornbread out when the top is browned. As soon as you take the skillet out of the oven, place butter and latter on top.
Serve with honey butter and any main dish you are serving!
Enjoy!
