hamburger pie
The comfort meal of our childhood. Our mom used to make it for us before the first day of school, a big test or even when we were having a bad day. This recipe should take less than an hour to cook and it serves up to 4-5 people.
Ingredients
1 Tbsp olive oil
1 medium onion, chopped
1 clove of garlic
1 lb ground beef
1 can of green beans
S+P to your taste
1 can of Marinara Sauce (I use Rao’s or Carbone)
1 container of pre-cooked mashed potatoes (I use the Country Crock or Whole Foods ones)
1/2 cup of shredded Cheddar and Monterey Jack Cheese
Instructions
Preheat a pot with oil over medium-high heat. Add chopped onion, garlic and sauté for 3 minutes
Preheat oven to 350°
In the same pan, brown your ground beef
Add spices to the spices once cooked down.
Add in can of green beans.
Mix in the Marinara sauce.
Grease a round ceramic baking dish or any deep baking pan.
Add in the meat mixture
Cook pre-heated mashed potatoes with directions on the back of the container.
Carefully cover the meat mixture with the mashed potatoes
Sprinkle cheese to cover the mashed potatoes
Place in oven for 30 minutes or under cheese is bubbling and crispy
Wait 5-10 minutes to cool before serving.
Enjoy! Warm the soul!
