hamburger pie

The comfort meal of our childhood. Our mom used to make it for us before the first day of school, a big test or even when we were having a bad day. This recipe should take less than an hour to cook and it serves up to 4-5 people.

Ingredients

  • 1 Tbsp olive oil

  • 1 medium onion, chopped

  • 1 clove of garlic

  • 1 lb ground beef

  • 1 can of green beans

  • S+P to your taste

  • 1 can of Marinara Sauce (I use Rao’s or Carbone)

  • 1 container of pre-cooked mashed potatoes (I use the Country Crock or Whole Foods ones)

  • 1/2 cup of shredded Cheddar and Monterey Jack Cheese

Instructions

  • Preheat a pot with oil over medium-high heat. Add chopped onion, garlic and sauté for 3 minutes

  • Preheat oven to 350°

  • In the same pan, brown your ground beef

  • Add spices to the spices once cooked down.

  • Add in can of green beans.

  • Mix in the Marinara sauce.

  • Grease a round ceramic baking dish or any deep baking pan.

  • Add in the meat mixture

  • Cook pre-heated mashed potatoes with directions on the back of the container.

  • Carefully cover the meat mixture with the mashed potatoes

  • Sprinkle cheese to cover the mashed potatoes

  • Place in oven for 30 minutes or under cheese is bubbling and crispy

  • Wait 5-10 minutes to cool before serving.

Enjoy! Warm the soul!
